Sparring rumble time!!! It’s the first one for the year leading up to the US National tournament that Generation TKD will be attending. On Sunday October 9th, California Unified Taekwondo Association (CUTA) is helping promote these rumbles to help our Jr. World Championship participants. Money raised from this rumble will help California Jr. participants going to Jr. World Championship in Canada, 4 of which are from California! Master Chino will be taking some of his athletes to help prepare them for the CUTA State Championships, which will take place April 2017.
If you have never attended a rumble, the premise is simple. They provide rings, referees and electronic scoring. Participants, Coaches and Parents show up, check in and start finding someone interested in having a sparring match with their player. Master Chino prefers his students to match themselves within the same belt level or higher. After any match, bow, shake hands, find another match and start again. Their referees maintain safety by using the correct rules for each age group and although they score the match, no winners are declared. Master Chino believes rumbles/scrimmages are the best learning and practice experiences which helps develop and attain a higher level of sparring in an athlete.
